Job Responsibilities:  Directs maintenance, security, HVAC, and grounds, of 435,000 square feet of manufacturing facilities.  In addition, manage maintenance staff in repairs and maintenance of production equipment.

Notable Accomplishments:  Retired from the US Army in 1992 as an officer; have obtained two Master of Arts degrees from Webster University.  I have been a member of the Board of Directors of Utah IFMA for 6 years. I have 7 wonderful grandchildren.

Personal statement about IFMA:  Having no experience in facility management 15 years ago when I started in this field, my immediate involvement in IFMA greatly enhanced my career in FM.  Because of the networking and monthly contacts with other FMers and associates I would have struggled to succeed in this field. I thank those in IFMA along the way who have help me grow into this position.  I encourage all who are in the FM field or associated with it to join and reap the vast knowledge and resources that are available through IFMA.

Current Job Responsibilities: Sales of Herman Miller products in Utah, Southeast Idaho, and Las Vegas Years in contract interiors: 20 years Member of IFMA Board / Committee Chairwoman for 12 years. IFMA is a great organization for networking and gaining knowledge of issues in the workplace.

Primary Job:  Insure that the customers are happy!

Responsibilities: Oversee the management team (operations, accounting, administration, human resources).

Notable Accomplishments:  Attained CBSE (Certified Building Service Executive) status in 2003--a certification  which is issued by the Building Service Contractors Association International—BSCAI). Started janitorial business in 1979 as a means to get through college but saw the janitorial contracting field as a great opportunity and continued with the business after graduating from the U of U in  Public Relations.

About IFMA: IFMA has been a great way to learn about the many facilities we visit at chapter meetings and to learn more about the FM function.  From this comes a greater understanding of how we can be more useful in assisting our customers (fm’s) in their varied job responsibilities.

 

Name: Donna Kessler

Job Responsibilities:  Sales and marketing for Teknion office furniture in Utah, New Mexico, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana.
Member of IFMA:  Associate member and board /chairperson since 2001.
Years in Industry: I have been in the commercial furniture industry since 1995.
Personal Statement about IFMA:  The Utah Chapter of IFMA is a great organization to be involved in, from networking with facility managers and other associate members, to the sharing of knowledge provided by facility managers.   The benefits are huge, but only for people who get involved with this professional organization.

Personal statement about IFMA: Many of the professionals that I work with on a day to day basis are members of this great organization and through IFMA it has helped me in my career by making me more aware of what I can do to make facilities run better and to make them more efficient. Personal Statement about IFMA: This chapter has been a very active organization and has been a great resource for many of my clients which and I have referred to IFMA when they have a facility issue that they need help with.

Personal Statement About IFMA: IFMA has provided such great opportunities to serve and to be served in the arena of Facilities Management.  The local Utah chapter has provided me with some great information and also great networking opportunities to rub shoulders with other facilities professionals.  I have learned many valuable things, from the monthly events to the yearly socials etc., to help enhance my career as a Facilities Professional.   IFMA is a great organization to be a part of.

Personal Statement About IFMA:  I was born to be an FMer.  This is a hands on profession and I have been doing it and thinking it long before I new it was defined. Then one day about nine years ago I read about IFMA in a book at the library and life hasn’t been the same since. What IFMA has helped me to learn are the leadership principles. And leadership is about making matters better.
