  • Top 5 Reasons to belong to IFMA

     1. Representation

The International Facility Management Association is the premier professional organization for facility management. Representing nearly 19,000 members throughout 50 countries, IFMA is recognized as the leading authority on facility management. The Association focuses its efforts on leading and sustaining the progress of the profession, while also advancing the careers of individual members.

To monitor issues affecting the workplace globally, IFMA has established an active presence in Washington D.C., Ottawa, Canada and Brussels. Currently working with top government officials, IFMA has also begun collaborative dialogue with other workplace-related organizations to promote awareness and impact trends affecting the future of facility management.

    2. Networking and Interaction

In any industry, networking is critical to growth—both personally and professionally. IFMA represents the most connected community of facility managers on the planet, and our community grows stronger each year. With 129 local chapters, 13 industry-specific councils and a host of special events offered throughout the year, IFMA’s networking opportunities are second to none.

Councils provide focused networking with peers in specialized areas of FM. IFMA’s annual World Workplace Conference and Expo features educational programs, networking opportunities and an all-encompassing exposition of products and services relevant to facility management.

    3. Professional Development

    4. Professional Certification

IFMA developed its Certified Facility Manager (CFM) program to help establish credibility while increasing recognition for the facility management profession. The certification program promotes professional excellence, establishes global standards for professional practice, promotes the added value of the FM and helps to influence the future direction of facility operations worldwide.

IFMA’s certification process is designed to assess competence in the field through work experience, education and the ability to pass a comprehensive exam.
